Smooth, refreshing and delicious Mango and Orange Lassi. A smoothie you can enjoy during any season, and pairs exceptionally well with spicy dishes.

Smooth, refreshing and delicious Mango and Orange Lassi. A smoothie you can enjoy during any season, and pairs exceptionally well with spicy dishes.

Lassi is a yogurt-based drink that originated in India. There are several different types of Lassi - some are savory and some are sweet. Mango Lassi is hugely popular and can be found in just about any Indian restaurant. We're shaking things up a little by adding orange to this delicious blend. Thus, Mango and Orange Lassi!

This is a fantastic smoothie to start your day.  Both mangoes and oranges are packed with Vitamin C, and you also get probiotics along with protein from the yogurt. I love Greek yogurt in this recipe as it gives it a really rich flavor. This Lassi also pairs really well with spicy dishes. Milk and yogurt contain casein, which helps tone down the burn on your tongue from spicy foods.

This delicious creamy smoothie is super easy to put together and takes just a few minutes to whip up! This recipe makes 2 tall glasses.

First, peel and slice 1 large ripe mango. If you're using small mangoes like champagne mangoes (yum!), use two of those.

Remove the skin from 1 orange, then cut the orange in half.

Toss the mango and the orange into a blender, then add ½ a cup of plain Greek yogurt, ½ a cup of milk, about 1 tablespoon of honey, and a cup of ice cubes.

Blend until smooth. I use a Vitamix Blender (which I looove soooo much) and it takes close to 30 seconds to get it perfectly blended and silky smooth.

That's it! Simple, right?

Love the colors here, I think this will be perfect at my house, once the weather isn't so chilly around me. This would be so nice to finish off a spicy curry meal. Nice recipe!

I loooove a good lassi! The mango and orange combo here sounds fantastic. And I agree - it's hard to go back to a regular blender after using a Vitamix!

Love the addition of orange! That's what I was missing in traditional mango lassi - a little citrus note to balance the sweetness!

Never forget the first mango lassi I had - I was in an Indian restaurant on a slow weekday for a late lunch, and asked the waitress for advice. I don't remember what else she suggested (this was years ago) but she flat out told me I had to try the lassi - which I'd never heard of - and she was right! Loved them ever since...

I do like the addition of orange.

Aren't they just great? I always get one whenever I have banana leaf rice here. The rice and curry is served on a banana leaf. It's quite spicy and the mango lassi pairs with it so well!
