So…it’s been a few months since I’ve posted on here. Been busy!! On September 15th, 2012, my sweet baby boy Brennan was born. His original due date was Sept 21st, but we had scheduled a C-section on the 17th. Apparently, that wasn’t soon enough for him. I woke up at around 2.30am on Sept 15th with stomach pains. I thought I had eaten something bad that day, but when contractions started happening about exactly 9 minutes apart consistently, I knew something was up.
I hadn’t even packed by bags yet. I put everything together at the last minute (in between contractions) then we rushed to the hospital. The contractions were really intense by that point. By the time I got to the hospital, I was already dialated 5 cm! We still went ahead with the C-section and Brennan was born at 9.30am that morning 🙂
We ran into some complications so he had to spend most of his time in the nursery across from my room. A couple of days later, he had to be transported from McKenzie Willamette to the NICU at Riverbend because his blood platelet count was dropping very rapidly. He had to be transported there via ambulance…probably one of the scariest moments of my life. However, after he got there, his blood platelet count started going back up. Go figure…all it took was an ambulance ride 🙂 Fortunately, he only had to stay in the NICU for a few days.
The first few weeks after he came home were rough. He was very colicky and wanted to be held all the time. But things got better pretty quickly. Now, he’s such a happy baby. His smile makes my heart melt 🙂
It’s been such an amazing journey with both my boys. I am so grateful for such wonderful kids.
