Phew! I thought that I would update my blog from Malaysia but never got around to it 🙁 My apologies…it took me a while to get over the jetlag. I took quite a few pictures but couldn’t figure out an easy way to post them on here. All the photo album plug-ins I found were so complicated that I gave up.
Anyways, I’ll write about my trip in several posts.
First, I want to say that the food that they served in the airplane was pretty darn good! The first meal that we got was chicken curry with rice, and soba noodles on the side. We were so fearful that we would be hungry being in the plane for so many hours that we brought so many snacks with us but we didn’t need any of it! We were stuffed!
The first place we ate at when we landed in Kuala Lumpur was KFC. Yes….KFC!! But the KFC’s there are quite different than the KFC’s here in the States. Almost all fast food joints in Malaysia serve chili sauce alongside the ketchup. I really miss that. It was close to 5am when we landed in KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) so we had a few hours to kill before our flight to our final destination, Penang. KFC was serving breakfast! I couldn’t resist but order their Spicy & Crispy chicken. YUMM!! They also had chicken porridge which looked really good.
I don’t remember what we had for lunch the day we landed in Penang but dinner was quite memorable. Jayden was so tired and fell asleep at the dinner table right after we ordered and never got up to eat. He was so mad at us when we woke him up after we were done eating.
This was at Lorong Selamat. Best “Char Hor Fun” ever!! We also had wonton soup and fried oysters with eggs (oh chien). I had my favorite “coffee shop” drink – fresh apple juice.
I love ordering fresh juices at these coffee shops. They’re actually fresh! If you order apple juice, they don’t serve that brownish apple juice they have here in the States. They actually juice fresh green apple, then they add some water and simple syrup. Doesn’t get any fresher than that! I really need to use my juicer more here. Most of these drinks cost about RM 2 which is approximately $0.60 USD.
Ack! I just realized that I had forgotten to take a picture of the Char Hor Fun! 🙁 Bummer! Oh well, I’m going to attempt to make it for dinner one of these days so I will post that.
